What rules for getting married existed at the time of the play?

In that time, the rules of getting married was the women had to be beautiful and respectful to their father and family. The women are suppose to get married with a gift which is giving by their family and to contribute their possessions with the new home after the marriage. But in 1500’s time period the most important thing was the beauty of the girl.
