McCandless had started to have some faith in something and ritual of himself for that faith. "... he intended to abandon the life of solitary vagabond, stop running so hard from intamacy..."(189).I think McCandless possibly blamed him self-but on the other hand I think no because of his reaction and the situation of his mind was stated. He could have come across the basket chained this side of the river and might have been across and gotten help but instead he stayed in the bus and mistakenly he took a poisonous plant for the wild potato plant.
