Probably
yes, they do but most times its because of the environment their in and the
situation, also mostly depending of their past. A person action, values and
beliefs don’t easily occur unless they’re emotional incident. Rebel means
someone who doesn’t obey rule or orders from someone. The relation between self
and society in the relation and doing as a group or community. In many extents community
is essential to happiness because get along and having a friendly environment
and being happy. Knowledge is dangerous depending on what type of knowledge it
and what the outcome can be out of it.

A individuals is able to construct an identity in many
ways but it mainly depend on the situation and they’re position and how badly
they wanna do it. Values and beliefs are inverted through certain environment. To me a rebel means that a person who does
the opposite and who also kinda raises arm as resistance against a government
or rule. A type of person being dependent and like being/having his or her own
rule. As I think the relation between self and society is following the rule be
friendly and have a good relation with your surroundings. To many extents
community is essential to happiness because it keeps you safe and lead you to a
happy life but people who doesn’t follow it or break it they end up being nowhere
without even being happy. It depends on what knowledge you chasing for and what
you wanna implant in your mind. If you plan to go beyond the limit then obviously
its going to be dangerous.
McCandless had started to have some faith in
something and ritual of himself for that faith. "... he intended to
abandon the life of solitary vagabond, stop running so hard from
intamacy..."(189).I think McCandless possibly blamed him self-but on the
other hand I think no because of his reaction and the situation of his mind was
stated. He could have come across the basket chained this side of the river and
might have been across and gotten help but instead he stayed in the bus and
mistakenly he took a poisonous plant for the wild potato plant. "
Extremely weak, fault of pot. Seed. Much trouble just to stand up. Starving.
Great jeopardy"(189).

There were two things which convinced McCandless is that his wild life was over and time to head back to civilization. At first he learned how live a life intentionally and the second reason is that he realized “the only certain happiness in life is to live for others…”. He wanted prove that no one can own him and he had the right to do anything. Also he wanted to show that, he can survive without money, or a car. He also wanted to get close to the nature and survive with the surroundings. McCandless always wanted to show that he is not dependent and he can relay on himself doing something. He thinks that people who cant do thing without being dependent ain't living there life fullest. This was his main thing is to proof the world anything and everything was possible with a bit of ambition.

Chris hated how his own parents was wanting to buy of his respect just like that by offering to get him a better transportation, it was very hurtful for him because his parents was wanting to buy him off. He had a strong attachment with his old car and he also loved his car. "Chris's smoldering anger, it turns out, was a fueled by a discovery he'd made two summers earlier, during his cross-country wanderings". "Walt and Billie made his 'entire life seem life a fiction". These two quotes shows how the family made Chris felt about them because they tried to make everything better for him with their money and not telling him the truth. His adventure to Alaska was very dangerous because at the age of twenty-three he planned to climd the Devils Thumb and decides to go by him self. His climbing experience was really bad and painful and very scary. I think i does understand him better even not seeing him because they experienced the same thing but different situation. He tells us that because saying something is easier then doing it and proving it. Also they both kinda share the same thing like getting out of society and proving them self.
Walt McCandless and his son are very smart, sharp-minded, and self independent person. They are person with likes to be in control and hates bring dependent and dislikes people who tries to give them advices. "Chris didn't like going through channels, working with the system, waiting his turn". This is because he cant adjust with the society and he mainly think he doesnt pit in it and most he doesnt want to compromise anything for it.

When McCandless turned up dead in Alaska lots of people ended by saying that he was mentally disturbed. In his mind from him is was glorifying but people thought is was a foolish and pointless death. Krakaur give more examples because they were kinda like him and headed to alaska too. He was a pilgrim but the thing was that he was never prepared for his journey he was unexperienced, he just woke up one day and decided to go in the wilderness and head to Alaska. To experience the wild and go offside of people. These men have done these to prove them self and self satisfaction.

1. They started to have a bond like father and son because Ronald is very old, was living on his own, aloneness, and adopted many children because his wife and children died in a car crash on New Year's Eve while Ronald was overseas. When Alex took a ride from Ronald and Ronald saw something different and kinda remarkable . He even taught Alex how to make a leather belt and thought of him as a son. They ended up having a strong bond.
2. "Once Alex made up his mind about something, there was no changing it" In mid-april Westerberg was both shorthanded and very busy, so he asked McCandless to postpone his departure and work a week or two longer but he didnt consider it because when he makes up his mind he doesn't change it again.
"Although a couple of times he mentioned wanting to get married and have a family some day. You could tell he didnt take relationships lightly. He wasnt the kind of guy who would go out and pick up girls just to get laid." i think its true because of this quote and explanation which says "One night a bunch of us went out to a bar in Madison," says Boarch "and it was hard to get him out on the dance floor. But once he was out there, he wouldnt sit down. We had a blast. After alex died and all, Carine told me that as far as she knew, I was one of the only girls he ever went dancing with."
3. Yes, because like would achieve what he wanted and can start a fresh life but it might be hard for him to adjust because he was a person who hate rules and staying somewhere conservative. Maybe im sure just because of what i read about him before.

In chapter five as I
think “Plastic People” mean that they would get up in the morning and go home
and no fun thing to do/ having any adventure. Its kinda like meaning that
people are becomes a robot just to earn money and not live the live full or
interestingly. The two things, which were considered as plastic, people doing
whatever they were told and trying to fight the time. I would say no because if
you wanna lead a healthy good life and have family you have to stick to the
society and work.

each day with a smile.” - Brandy Miller

The traits of Alex have
in the book is that is likes being independent and he likes to do everything by
himself. When he takes favor from someone he likes to return in by doing
something or giving him or her something in return. Gallien helped him out as
much as he could because he was unprepared for his epic journey. Alex was from
D.C and his family was very rich and he left them and this last communication
with his family was he wrote a letter to his parents with his final transcript.
Ken Thompson, Gordon Samel and Ferdie Swanson, these where the three hunter who
found Alex’s dead body with his note saying that he is injured, weak, near
death, and in need of assistance. His epic journey would change everything
because of his act and doing something to show people and its kinda like an
encouragement. An absurd and onerous duty was meant be he followed his parents
but he wanted to do what he felt and his mind was set in going out and
discovering his surroundings and mainly getting the feeling of the wildness
that’s why he headed he there not knowing anything or not being communicated in
anyway. Him saying this heading west he felt freed “from the
stifling world of his parents and peers, a world of abstraction and security
and material excess” meant a lot which we think its normal and safe but from
him it meant no freedom, no nothing. These are the main reason of him leaving
everything and just travel and get in the wildness. I don’t agree because its
very crazy think to do and insane leaving everything behind.
How come a wealthy rich guy like him plans to go to
the wild, and how was he so ambitious?
